The No Running - Running Pup

I am determined to turn this dog into runner. Not only to keep her lean and healthy, but also to keep me company on my runs. Every time I see someone running with their dog on the side of the road with out a leash, I cringe with jealousy. At 7 months old and whole 30lbs, Jersey wants absolutely nothing to do with a nice long run around the neighborhood. Even if I dangled a big fat juicy steak in front of her face, I would still have to pull her. So this persistent mommy decided to take Jersey with me on my run yesterday afternoon. We were off to a pretty steady start until she heard some thunder in the distance and got scared. After 15 minutes of dragging her I decided to head home and drop her off and continue my run. I've done enough procrastinating with this half marathon training, I can't afford to allow any interruptions.  I got in a good 3 miles or so before my feet started to hurt (I have to buy new shoes).

Someone help: How do I turn this puppy into a runner?

Gold Coast Hurricanes

Many of you may know that most of my spare time is consumed with softball. I'm an assistant coach at a local high school, and I also coach an elite summer travel team called Gold Coast Hurricanes.
This tumbler was given to me as a gift from one of my favorite seniors :)

Due to the hectic softball schedule this weekend I was unable to hit the gym or do any cardio. Although I think I lost a few lb's standing out in the 95 degree heat coaching 6 games. Mad props to my girls for PLAYING 6 games in this awful Florida heat.

On Friday night Mike and I were seriously craving some greasy bar food so we headed over to a local favorite, Landlubbers. As we sat down and took a peak at the menu I figured Mike was going to order the most unhealthy appetizer on the menu (a entire plate full of fried food: pickles, wings, mozzarella sticks, etc). The waitress came over to take our orders before I even got passed the appetizers so I let Mike order first. After having my mind set on a delicious plate of fried fun, Mike decides to order a platter of RAW Oysters (Barf).
I promised him I would try ONE. He prepared one for me on a saltine cracker with some lemon juice, hot sauce, and tartar sauce. Even with all that yumminess on top it was still disgusting!
Now that the crazy softball weekend is over and I never have to see another oyster again, it's back to healthy life. I woke up extra early this morning to surprise Mike with breakfast after his AM work out.

This morning I had an everything bagel toasted and scooped with an egg white scramble (spinach, red peppers, mushrooms, and a little bit of cheese), topped off with two slices of turkey bacon. Oh, and I can't forget my usual cup of Joe. Super delish!

Meet the Team

Fit Chick on the Fly will show you how I maintain a healthy lifestyle on-the-go. Not only will I talk about myself, but I may mention a super special guy that I call my boyfriend.Whether Mike knows it or not, he sort of inspired me to write this blog.

So, with out further adieu I'd like to introduce my wonderful boyfriend Mike.

Now there's something you need to know about Mike. I kid you not when I say his entire day revolves around what he can put in his mouth next. He's one of those people I absolutely despise...eats whatever he wants, whenever he wants and NEVER GAINS ONE LB. Like me, Mike is a former athlete: Played baseball at UM and then got drafted in the second round with the Houston Astros.

Mike and I met in October of 2009 though a mutual friend. After endless conversations about baseball and softball and a nice date to Quarterdeck, we decided to become "gym buddies." Needless to say the gym buddy thing lasted a couple months and then well..... _______....you can fill in the blanks! :)

The second player in my line up is my first child (dog), Jersey. Named after the uniform, not the state!

Mike and I rescued this precious little girl about 4 month's ago. As you can see she likes baseball just as much as her mommy and daddy! I am pretty much obsessed with her so I'm sure you'll be hearing a lot about her in the blogs to come.

Is blogging a full time job?

OK people here we go......my first blog. I'm not so sure if I am cut out for this blogging stuff considering the fact it took me two hours to set up this dang thing. Obviously it's a sloooooow day in the office, or else I wouldn't be doing this. As I'm writing this first blog I can't help but feel a little behind in the blogging world. August is almost here and I've already acomplished so much in 2011.

Anyways, stay stuned, I'll be filling you in on lot's of good stuff: Training for my first half marathon, new recipes, workouts, etc.
